Charlton School

A message from the Principal - End of term

On the last day of term, Friday 20th December, we will be finishing at our usual school time of 3:10pm.

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to confirm the arrangements for events as we run up to the Christmas holidays.

  • Christmas Lunch – Wednesday 18th December 2024
  • Christmas Concert – Thursday 19th December 2024 – 7:00pm start in school, tickets are only available to students being accompanied by an adult, this is to promote a family-based audience for this event and due to the limited availability of tickets.
  • Non-Uniform Day - Friday 20th December 2024
  • Last Day of Term - Friday 20th December 2024 – normal school day timings

On the last day of term, Friday 20th December, we will be finishing at our usual school time of 3:10pm.  The 103 and 104 bus routes will be running as usual at the end of school. On this day we will also be holding a non-uniform day, for the cost of £1 students can wear their own clothes.  We encourage students to wear something Christmassy! Money raised will be split between Save The Children and local foodbanks to support the needs of our community.

On Wednesday 18th December we will be holding our Christmas lunch, there will also be an additional limited menu on offer.  The cost is £2.58 for a main course and pudding. Children who wish to take up this option will need to ensure that their canteen account has had funds added to it prior to this date.

On Thursday 19th December, we will be holding our annual Christmas concert.  The concert will start at 7:00pm and tickets will be available to purchase from our Finance Office.  A decision has been made that for this event all students will need to be accompanied by an adult to create a family atmosphere for the performers.  Individuals or groups of students without accompanying adults will not be admitted to the event.

As a school we see it as one of our key responsibilities to support our own community.  Once again, this year we will be doing our Christmas collection to put together parcels and gifts to give out to our own community, to families for whom Christmas is a challenging period.

Week Commencing 25th November (we know this date has passed but happy to still receive items)

  • Toiletries and gift sets

Week Commencing 2nd December

  • Sweets and treats

Week Commencing 9th December

  • Any items that a young person/their families would like to receive – if any items are used please can they be in great condition. Always really popular are snuggly blankets, hot water bottles, toys, games, calendars, fluffy socks and Christmas mugs.

Thank you in advance for the wonderful support you have given to this collection over the past three Christmases.  It has made a real difference to members of our school community.  Any donations from students and families can be handed in to student services.

Yours sincerely,

Mr A McNaughton

Principal
