Principal's Update 22.05.20

Dear Parent/Carer,

As we come to the end of half-term, please can I express my sincere thanks for the numerous messages of thanks we have received in school, about the support and efforts my colleagues have provided to you and your children during these unprecedented times.

We have been delighted with the efforts of our students towards their home learning, teachers are receiving fantastic work across all subject areas and I have been privileged to have seen some of this.  I urge you all to have a break over the half-term and refresh your batteries.  I have no expectations on my staff to work over the holiday, so please share this expectation with your children too, and allow them a rest.

If you get a moment over the holiday, our school needs you! Help us win £5000 of National Book Tokens for the school library - and get £100 for yourself! Just enter the competition online, it only takes a minute: https://www.nationalbooktokens.com/schools

Further to Dr Eatough’s earlier update, despite plans being in place for Year 10, we are unable to implement these until the secondary school guidance has been published.  This has resulted in a delay to any wider re-opening of the school until at least 8th June.  We will issue the plans for opening the school as soon as we are confident it is safe to do so, and that our plans are in line with the Government guidance.  Any wider reopening of the school this term will not be a return to full time education.

May I take this opportunity to wish the Muslim members of our community a Blessed Eid to you and your family for this weekend, Eid Mubarak lakum aw-li-‘a’ilatakum.  I know your celebrations will need to be adapted this year but hope you can still enjoy them and celebrate.

Have a restful half-term, take care and continue to stay safe.

Kind regards,

Mr McNaughton
