'I would like to thank Stephen Seki for his truly inspirational speech to year 10. Myself and my daughter thought he was absolutely amazing, intriguing and he had us hooked from the beginning.

The beginning certainly was something that compelled us to watch on. The fact that Stephen came from an extremely poverty-stricken childhood, wearing a plastic bag for a t-shirt, singing his alphabet and thinking this was ‘speaking English’ to becoming a fully qualified Pharmacist here in the UK with an ability to speak excellent English was just inspirational.

I have nothing but admiration for Stephen’s ability to succeed in the face of adversity, when many others would simply have given up when told they were not good enough. He took a very proactive and ‘can do’ approach to his learning and although not naturally gifted in the academic field he worked even harder to prove to himself and others that he was good enough to achieve his dreams.

He is living proof that if you want something in life, be positive, be proactive, persevere and with dedication and determination and a willingness to go that extra mile, you will achieve your goals and dreams in life'.
