Dear Parent/Carer,
The vaccination process has started well. We hope to have completed the vaccinations for Year 7, 8 and 9 today. Tomorrow we will see Year 10, 11 and any students who were absent today, being vaccinated. If your child has been given consent and not received their vaccine today (and they are in Year 7, 8 or 9), they should make their way to the sports hall at 1.40pm tomorrow, during their reading session.
We have had numerous questions about when students who have been unable to get vaccinated this time will have the opportunity to get a vaccine. It is the intention of the vaccination service to run a mop up session for these students, including students who subsequently have turned 12 in Year 7. We do not yet have a date for this.
There has been a change to the testing recommendations for both primary and secondary school students who are either household members or close contacts, as identified by track and trace, of a positive case. In these situations, students are now asked to take LFD tests daily for a period of 7 days from the start of what would have been their self-isolation period, their last contact with the positive case. This is in addition to the PCR they will have been recommended to take. Students are still allowed to come into school whilst they are daily testing, unless they are symptomatic or test positive on either LFD or PCR.
We will issue a further box of tests on Thursday to facilitate daily testing, if needed and to ensure all students have sufficient test kits to enable them to test prior to returning after the holiday.
A further reminder, we have flu vaccinations taking place in school on Friday, this is for all students, including Year 11 students who have turned 16 years old. Please return the consent form as soon as possible to reception.
Thank you for your support.
Yours faithfully
